Employee Well-being

Saint Louis University Human Resources offers wellness programs to SLU faculty and staff encompassing physical, financial, spiritual, intellectual and emotional/social well-being.

Medical Premium Discount

SLU is requiring a biometric screening for anyone who wishes to receive a wellness premium discount in 2024. The wellness discount is $60 off their monthly medical premiums for an employee and an additional $30 for covered spouses.

Your screening will include blood pressure, glucose, hemoglobin A1C (this is a measurement of your average blood sugar over the past three months), and a cholesterol screening (HDL, LDL, and triglycerides).

Note: For the glucose and cholesterol testing, you must fast for eight hours prior to your screening appointment. This means nothing to eat or drink except for water. Take your medications as normal with water.

Saint Louis University partners with Quest Diagnostics to complete the biometric screening requirement. If you need further assistance, please contact the Quest Service Center at 855-623-9355.

May is Emotional Wellness Month

May is a busy month for most. Take the time to take care of yourself both mentally and physically. Block off 30 minutes on your schedule to make time for yourself. Saying “no” to unnecessary events in your personal life and being mindful of your schedule can prevent burnout. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, ask for help when you need it and communicate clearly to others what your needs are to support your emotional health.

Emotional wellness is the ability to successfully handle life’s stresses and adapt to change and difficult times. So what does positive emotional health look like?

Signs of emotional wellness:

  1. Having the ability to talk with someone about your emotional concerns and share your feelings with others
  2. Saying "no" when you need to without feeling guilty
  3. Feeling content most of the time
  4. Feeling you have a strong support network (i.e. people in your life who care about you)
  5. Being able to relax
  6. Feeling good about who you are
